Here is your Sew What Pro workspace screen and I did my demo using our Mini Satin Circle Applique Design. I will walk you through the process, and also include a link to a video from the Sands Computing website so you can also watch the process. One of the most impressive features of Sew What Pro is that you can adjust PULL COMPENSATION, or in other words, you can WIDEN YOUR SATIN STITCHES on your appliques and fonts! Say what? I posted a picture of a demo I did on Facebook last week and got a huge response!
I need to take my notes and put them in a good outline form ~ I will work on that in my spare time! We didn’t even take a break! People really ARE interested in software!! Check out Beth’s website ~ they are now selling fabric online and she said they were still in the process of adding all of it! If you are in the area, you can also sign up for their newsletter and hear about upcoming classes.

I took 3 pages of notes (front and back) and ended up spending a good hour on Monogram Wizard Plus and the last hour on Sew What Pro. Since I use Monogram Wizard Plus and Sew What Pro, those were the 2 I chose to teach. I’ve taught a couple of “intro to embroidery & applique” classes before but this time she asked me to teach Embroidery Software. You’ll receive an official ‘Running-Stitch Certificate” for completing this certification lesson.I taught a class last Thursday night at Beth’s Heirloom Sewing in Wetumpka, AL. Here you’ll digitize a design by yourself using the theory you’ve learned and send in your finished design to be evaluated by John personally. This is a final ‘test’ after you’ve completed level one. Moving from simple to more complex, you’ll digitize 12 designs with help from John so you can better understand & retain the theory taught.

4 hours of Interactive Video which is split into 4 bite-sized video lessons taught directly in the software brand you own. This lesson focuses on the running stitch because it’s the most used stitch type in machine embroidery. In this level, you’ll learn some of embroidery’s best-kept secrets & build a solid foundation of embroidery theory. Level one is where we suggest everyone starts whether you’re completely new to digitizing or have been at it for a while.
A teacher will teach you something, then have you practice or apply it yourself with ‘homework’ so that it sticks. This same interactive learning approach is used in schools & universities across the world. For this reason, our course will teach you something new about embroidery digitizing theory, and then have you apply it yourself in a fun exercise where you create an actual design. It’s an entirely different thing to be interactively doing it yourself. It’s one thing to watch a video, read a book, or have someone stand in front of you & tell you about the process. Why? Because studies have shown that seeing & doing provides the best results when trying to learn something new.

Ten years after John wrote the world’s number one book on embroidery digitizing, “Digitizing Made Easy” (which has sold over 44,300 copies), the Digitizer’s Dream Course was born! This new & improved course is a hands-on approach towards learning how to digitize for quicker results. The Digitizer’s Dream Course was developed & refined over 25 years of John teaching in both the home & commercial embroidery industries. Thankfully, that’s exactly why this course stands above the rest! Like most art forms, crafting quality embroidery designs isn’t a guessing game. In other words, they point out buttons but don’t explain the theory behind digitizing and the rules of working with stitches. Most other educators out there show you HOW to do something but don’t explain WHY & WHEN to do it.
If this sounds familiar, let me tell you that it’s NOT your fault! Right now, there is a key piece of embroidery education missing in the industry: Theory. The problem is that they quickly got frustrated, saw no results, and gave up. If you’ve tried to learn how to digitize in the past & gave up, you’re not alone… The majority of our students have tried to learn how to digitize by taking in-store lessons, other online classes, or watching YouTube videos in the past. Are you ready to finally learn how to create & edit your own designs using your embroidery software? This process is called digitizing, and we’ve taught over 9,700 people how to do it (including a 93-year-old student)!
